Familiar, ground-frequenting black and white fantail with a rounded tail. Occupies a wide range of open habitats including grassland, woodland, forest edges, parks and suburban gardens where it sometimes falls prey to domestic cats. Avoids dense forested areas. Habitually wags tail from side to side while uttering the familiar chitit chitit chitit call.
