Inhabits open forest and woodland, wherever understory is
parse and the leaf litter productive. Has a complex social structure. Family
groups of 5-20 birds forage systematically across a patch of ground. Most of the group are non-breeding offspring
of the breeding pair. The non-breeders assist with incubation, feeding,
brooding and nest-defense. Nest is a
large mud bowl built on a near-horizontal limb.
