Tree Skink

Egernia striolata

Maximum Snout Vent Length – 119mm

Occurs in dry sclerophyll forests and woodlands, mainly west
of coastal ranges.  Shelters in hollow
timber, beneath loose bark and in narrow rock crevices.

Many reptiles are rarely seen due to their cryptic or
secretive nature and extreme wariness of humans. For example, this partially mummified
Tree Skink was found amongst collected firewood and to date remains the only
evidence of the species occurring on the Mt Pleasant Station north of
Collinsville.
