Rufous Bettong
Aepyprymnus rufescens
Distributed in coastal and subcoastal NSW and Qld from Newcastle
to Cooktown. Prefers dry open forests with a grassy understory. Has been lost
from the Murray Valley of NSW & Vic. Digs with strong claws for tubers and
fungi. Also eats some grass, sedge stem and insect larvae.
