A species of coastal south east Australia with a northern limit extending to the Clarke Range. Inhabits wet eucalypt forest
and some dry forest with adequate prey populations. Australia’s largest owl.
Territorial, sedentary, monogamous and long-lived. Eats mostly mid-sized
mammals and large birds – possums, gliders, magpies and cockatoos.
