Lapwing, Banded
Vanellus tricolor
An Australian endemic. Not really a wetland species as
hardly ever wades and often found far from water on inland plains and
agricultural land, avoiding long or dense grass. Congregates on sparsely
vegetated areas including native grassland and closely cropped pasture.
