Common – Sedentary-Nomadic.
White wing patches in flight. Massive bill. Large creamy head, streaked brown (some look brown-headed). Pale eye, no dark eye stripe. Back brown, lower back light blue. Light blue shoulders, rump. Wings mostly blue. Tail deep blue, white tip. Fine barring on neck, underparts. Female / Immature: Larger. Tail rufous-brown, barred dark blue. Size: 39cm Juvenile: Head buffy; underparts more scalloped. Voice: Harsh, cackling scream with twittering. Female deeper than male. Habitat: Woodland, open forest, paperbark swamps.
