Rare, unobtrusive and usually solitary. Hunts by gliding
over open-forest and woodland, then swooping suddenly to snatch prey from
foliage. Eats birds, particularly nestlings, reptiles and insects including
larvae from paper wasp nests. Migratory, absent from tropics during the wet
season and a spring/summer visitor to southern Australia.
