Regional Endemic
Has the most limited distribution of all Australian breeding
passerines. Found only within limited range on the eastern Clarke and Sarina
Ranges. Inhabits rainforest edges and gullies usually above 900m but extends
out to surrounding wet sclerophyll forest at lower altitudes over winter &
into spring to take advantage of flowering eucalypts at this time. Highly
nectivorous and rather inconspicuous but noisy aggregations occur around
flowering trees and climbing pandan.
