Mostly found in waterside forest and swampy habitats, particularly Melaleuca forest; also adjacent eucalypt forest and woodland, vine forest, mangroves and gardens. Usually resident but some wandering when conditions deteriorate. Feeds on insects gleaned from foliage or captured in flight, plus nectar.
