Cockatoo, Glossy Black
Calyptorhynchus lathami
Occupies Eucalypt forests and woodlands containing Allocasuarina and Casuarina, feeding the fruit/nuts of these trees. Has quite a different call to the similar looking Red-tailed Black Cockatoo. The Glossy Black Cockatoo is not commonly seen in this region reaching the northernmost limit of its east coast wanderings just south of Townsville.
