Maximum Snout Vent Length – 115mm

Found from Cairns to se NSW and inland along the Murray/Darling Rivers into SA.

Generally restricted to areas containing permanent water where it lives along banks, in reed beds and other water side vegetation.  A good swimmer, readily taking to water to chase prey or escape predators. Sun loving, often seen basking on rocks and logs close to water in cool weather.  Bares live young.
