Maximum Snout Vent Length – 320mm – the largest of the
Australian skink lizards
Appears to be uncommon in this region, preferring the dry
open woodlands on the western side of the Clarke Range. Has often been kept as
a pet. Relatively slow moving , relying on bluff rather than speed to escape
predators. When cornered, mouth is gaped and the broad blue tongue protruded,
accompanied by a loud hiss. Omnivorous, consuming flowers, berries, fungi and
soft foliage, invertebrates and any reptiles and small mammals it is able to
catch.
