Eagle, Wedge-tailed

Aquila audax


Largest Australian eagle with dark plumage, prominently
fingered outer primaries and long diamond shaped tail in flight. Hunts small to
medium sized vertebrates, especially rabbits and small macropods. Also eats
carrion; frequently consumes road kill and hence occasionally struck by fast
moving vehicles.
