Small, compact, terrestrial forest pigeon of the tropics and subtropics. Common in rainforests, monsoon scrubs, Melaleuca swamps and mangroves. Walks rapidly and erratically, picking seeds and fallen fruits from forest floor. Can become tame around habitation and picnic areas.
