Occupies most of tropical and subtropical coastal Australia. Inhabits open eucalypt forest, scrubby coastal and streamside vegetation, mangroves, pandanus, Melaleuca swamps, gardens & parks. Feeds on the ground on seeds, small fallenfruits and other plant material.
