Found in wet forests of Eastern Australia from the Whitsunday area south to around Sydney.
The largest of the Crowned snakes. A nocturnal venomous lizard and frog eater, hiding under rocks, logs and leaf litter during the day. Has an energetic threat display when disturbed, raising its head and fore-body off the ground. Bites can cause some discomfort but not considered harmful.
