One of the most commonly encountered marsupials in Australia
sometimes taking up residence in the roofs of suburban houses. Nocturnal and
arboreal. Found in most treed
environments. In our region they can be grey, rufous or black in colour with a
black tail. Voice is a loud series of rattling coughs & hisses. Feeds on the
leaves of a wide variety of trees and plants as well as flowers and fruits.
Will also take nestling birds.
