Black-striped Wallaby

Macropus dorsalis


Distributed from near Townsville out to Longreach and south
to around Narrabri in NSW.

Widespread, but no longer common, in sclerophyll forest and
brigalow scrub where there is dense cover. Nocturnal and crepuscular, shy,
gregarious. Rests during day in thick scrub and move at dusk in single-file
along well-defined paths. Graze on grasses and herbs.
