Black-headed Python

Aspidites melanocephalus


Maximum Total Length – 2.6m

Found across the northern half of Australia. In this region
found in the drier open forests on the eastern side of the Clarke Range and the
stony hills and open woodlands of the western side.

Feeds predominantly on large reptiles including goannas and
large dragon lizards. Nocturnal and diurnal and occasionally seen run over on
inland roads. Takes refuge in rock crevices, soils crevices abandoned burrows
and hollow logs.
