Australian Pelican
Pelecanus conspicillatus
Australia’s only species of Pelican. Gregarious in small to
large flocks at inland and coastal wetlands, estuaries and sheltered marine
bays. Sometimes hunts cooperatively by herding fish into shallows. Also
opportunistically eats arthropods, crustaceans, birds and other vertebrates.
