Australian Coral Snake
Brachyurophis australis
Maximum Total length – 340mm
Found in inland parts of Qld
(Brigalow Belt), NSW and eastern SA. Uncommon in this region, being restricted
to drier open woodlands on the western side of the ranges.
A nocturnal, burrowing elapid that
uses it shovel-shaped snout to burrow beneath litter and soil.
