Bipinnate, one to three pairs of secondary segments each with five to eleven leaflets. Leaflets egg shaped, bright green, shiny above and dull beneath, 5 x 2cm.

Flower description: Green, white or yellow flowers, ageing to orange brown, fluffy, fragrant, borne in globular heads about 4cm across. September to November.

Fruit description: Yellow, flat, twisted pods, red inside. Glossy, black seed.
Habitat: Rainforest.
Distribution Queensland, New South Wales, New Guinea, Malesia.
Food source for: Food plant of the tailed emperor butterfly.
Toxicity: No toxicity known
Origin: Australia, New Guinea, Malesia.
Notes: A fast growing, bushy tree which requires free drainage. The flowers attract many butterflies. Propagate from fresh seed.
