Shrub or tree to about 12m with a spreading canopy and dark grey to brown, fissured, flaky or tessellated bark. Previously Bauhinia hookeri.

Habitat: Gallery (riverine or riparian) forest, vine thicket.

Origin: Australia.
Notes: Can produce basal suckers. Deciduous. Fire may promote seed germination. Grow from seed, nicking the seed coat will improve germination success.
