Shrub or small tree, 1-5m high. Twigs and petioles produce a milky exudate.

Opposite, elliptic to obovate, leaf blades 7-10 x 3-5cm, petioles 0.5-1cm long. Eight to 15 lateral veins on each side of the midrib, curving but not forming definite loops inside the blade margin. Hairy upper and lower surfaces.

Flower description: Cream white flower, 12-20mm in diameter. Calyx lobes about 1mm long clothed in erect hairs. Corolla tube about 12mm long, lobes about 10mm long, margins usually flounced. Stamens attached above the middle of the corolla tube.

Fruit description: Orange gondola shaped pod, 10-20 x 10-15mm, producing a milky exudate when cut or damaged.
Habitat: Gallery (riverine or riparian) forest, rainforest, vine thicket.
Distribution Queensland, Northern Territory, Western Australia, New Guinea.
