Leaf:
Simple, alternate or clustered in psuedo-whorls, entire, oblong-elliptic to ovate, 5-15cm long. Dull, dark green above and paler below, mature leaves glabrous above, softly hairy below, margin sometimes wavy.

Flower description: Terminal umbels of yellow flowers. Winter to Spring.

Fruit description: Orange yellow, ellipsoid or ovoid, two or three valved capsule, up to 2cm long. Somewhat woody with a rough, warty exterior. Bright red seed in sticky mucilage. Autumn to winter.
Habitat: Rainforest.
Distribution Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria and Pacific Islands.
Food source for: Seed eaten by the figbird and satin bowerbird.
Toxicity: No toxicity known
Origin: Australia, Pacific Islands.
Notes: The leaves contain saponin and may be used as a soap substitute.
